The Rebel Bride

Meet Michelle, my self-proclaimed “third” twin and bestie! I first met Michelle a little over 6 years ago when I decided to try out a young adult bible study group. My twin sister Stacy had left to go to college in another state and I didn’t know what to do at first. My built-in-best-friend was suddenly gone and now I had to figure out how to live life without her by my side. We talked EVERY night on the phone, or through Facetime, but it wasn’t the same. I used to be able to go to events and never worry about who I was going to talk to, but one moment changed all that. A few weeks after Stacy had left for school, my older sister suggested we try a local bible study together. We went to a few meetings together and then she couldn’t go anymore so if I wanted to continue attending, I had to do it alone. To say I was nervous is an understatement. The first few meetings I was so scared, that I sat in the parking lot in my car for 15-30 minutes every time and had to talk myself in to going inside. Sometimes I would even call Stacy just so she could reassure me it would be fine. Everything changed though after one intense game of spoons. The bible study group decided to have a game night and one of the people who attended was this this super tall, super athletic girl who I thought would never talk to me. She was so outgoing and talked with everyone with no problem at all, while I stayed in my corner and only did things when people asked me specifically. At one point during the evening someone suggested that we play a large game of spoons. I had never played spoons before but decided to give it a try. I ended up sitting next to this girl and was pretty nervous. We didn’t talk much to begin with but then one moment changed everything. Towards the end of the game things were getting more aggressive and during one round this tall girl ended up in my lap!! I had no idea what to do but laugh and that started a conversation. I don’t remember what happened after this point but that epic game of spoons gave us a great story to tell and blessed me with an instant best friend! Some would think our friendship would never last but my bestie Michelle is one of those people I can’t imagine my life without. She is tall, athletic and not afraid to try anything while I am short and only play softball, hate running, and like staying inside my safe little box. In-spite of our differences though we bring out the best in each other and she is one of those friends that I can tell anything to and she knows just what to say. I may not get to see her as much now as I would like to, but no matter how much time passes between our scheduled “girls nights” I feel like we can always get together and talk about any and everything. She has been there to support me through so much, including my business and now I have the opportunity to support her on her business adventure.

Michelle has written a book called The 31-Day Wedding Prayer Journal for brides. Over the past few years Michelle has felt a calling to help brides find peace in the planning of their special day. This journal is so amazing and I can’t wait to use it myself if/when that special day comes for me. The 31-Day Wedding Prayer Journal from The Rebel Bride is filled with devotionals and areas for brides to journal their prayers for their wedding day ranging from prayers for their minister and their photographer, to their parents and future husband. This journal is truly amazing and I am so excited to be a part of this journey with my bestie! I have seen this project go from just being a dream to actually being a real thing and it is truly incredible to see how determined Michelle is to make it a success. A few weeks ago Michelle asked me if I would photograph her book for her so she could have some marketing photos and I obviously said yes! Below are a few of the pictures from the session. If you have a moment head on over to The Rebel Bride to check out her book.
