In September of 2014 I made a leap to register my business, ADF Photography, as an official business. It was the scariest thing! I was making the change from photographing friends and family members to working with clients, charging for sessions, and figuring out how to do business paperwork. To say I was terrified is an understatement! I still remember graduating from college and not knowing where to begin. Here I was with a photography degree, but no idea how to start a business.
I wasn’t sure what to name my business so I decided to use my initials, ADF. I created my first logo, hired a company to help me set up all the legal stuff, and ADF Photography was born. Over the years I have learned so much and have grown tremendously as a photographer in both my skill and confidence. I’ve spent hours watching videos, reading blog posts, and figuring out what style of shooting and editing works for me that I feel it’s time to reflect this change in my business.
So, as of September of 2020, the year that will never be forgotten, and exactly 6 years after ADF Photography was created, ADF Photography is now officially April Fox Photography. I’ve spent the past month or so creating a new logo, changing my website, picking new business colors, customizing my client management system and more. All I can say is that this has been the change that I’ve needed. Over the past year or so I have lacked the ambition to move my business any further than where I was; now I have a new drive and am working on finishing some projects that I have been sitting on for a while. I am working on improving my client experience and am so excited for this change. It may seem like a simple name change to some, but I finally feel like my business logo, brand, and website represent who I am and what I am passionate about.
As I have been working on this change, I have also been reflecting on where I started with my work and where I am now, and “WOW!” All I can say is that I am SO thankful for those friends, family members, and clients who trusted me when I was first starting out. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to start this business and evolve into the person and have the business that I do today. I am so thankful for the way the Lord has blessed me in this journey and am looking forward to what’s ahead!
Below are the two past ADF Photography logos I have had, my new logo and brand colors, a snapshot of my new website, and plenty of examples of my work from where I began to where I am now!
Enjoy!
