From the second you step foot onto the Waldenwoods wedding venue property, you will feel as though you have stepped into your own private oasis. On one end of the property, you have the 140-acre spring-fed lake. On the other hand, you will have access to over 400 acres of private woodlands. It’s the ideal place to host a private location far away from the rest of the world.
The history of this house only adds to the charm. The Crouse family purchased this property in 1837 and has maintained it ever since. It was given its name in 1924 when entrepreneur J. Robert Crouse was inspired to name it after one of his favorite writers, Henry David Thoreau. Over the next few decades, it served as a kind of retreat for other business leaders who needed a space where they could gather to discuss new ideas that would benefit the rest of the community. These days, it primarily serves as an event venue where people can gather to celebrate all those major milestones. With gorgeous views and exceptional accommodations, this venue is ready to make sure you have a day neither you nor your guests will ever forget!

With over 400 acres to explore, you are going to have so many options for your wedding day at Waldenwoods wedding venue! Let’s start out by discussing where you can get ready. This venue offers wedding weekend packages, letting you spend several days on-site. Not only is it the perfect way to make some memories, but you will have a cozy space where you can prepare for your wedding day. You can choose from several spots on-site where you can camp out with your favorite people. Then, once your wedding day arrives, you can have a lazy morning sipping champagne as you get your hair and makeup done.
From there, it will be time for your ceremony. Again, with so much land at your fingertips, you are going to be able to find the spot that suits you! One of my favorite areas out here is next to the lake. You can use the pergola near the water to exchange your vows while your guests watch on from the surrounding lawn. For those who would prefer something a little closer to the primary building, you can use the front lawn for this part of your wedding day. You can use the inn to make your grand and dramatic entrance as your guests watch on from the grass.
If you would like an indoor space, check out Cromaine Hall. This rustic spot is ideal for intimate ceremonies, giving you a stone fireplace you can use as you exchange your vows.
If you plan on having a designated cocktail hour, you will be able to talk to the venue. They will work with you to find the best spot near your reception venue of choice.
Feast On These Reception Options At The Waldenwoods Wedding Venue
Your night will end with your reception. If you would prefer the climate control of an indoor space, Cromaine Hall is your ideal location! In addition to the lodge-esque decor, this room features floor-to-ceiling windows that will show off the views without the fluctuating temperatures. For those who would prefer an open-air space, you will love Sunshine Cove. This wooden pavilion is lovely on its own, but when you add in draping and string lights, it becomes downright romantic! The versatile layout will give your guests plenty of space to move around and celebrate. If you do want a spot that is entirely outdoors, the Lakeview Tent is your spot. You can enjoy those mild Michigan temps while celebrating with your closest friends and family. With Waldenwoods, you will have enough space for up to 250 guests.
Photography Opportunities
With the Waldenwoods wedding venue, you are going to have endless photo opportunities! While the inside has some pretty lovely backdrops, you will definitely want to take plenty of photos outside. The portico just outside the building is a fabulous spot for group portraits, while the lakefront is best for couple’s portraits. I also recommend using the yard for group pictures for people of all ages and abilities.
