In September 2022, I had the privilege to photograph Drew Jacobs and his fiancé April for a couple’s session around downtown Port Huron. I left this session feeling so inspired! I had an amazing time working with Drew and April, and wondered if they would allow me the opportunity to photograph their wedding. A few weeks later, I was sitting upstairs (in what is now my home office) and received a text from Drew asking if I was available to on their wedding day?!! Obviously, I said “YES!” (insert a lot of excitement here).
On June 3, April and Drew said “I do” during an intimate ceremony on a dock overlooking a pond in April’s grandparent’s backyard. Before their ceremony, April and Drew shared a private moment reading letters they had written to one another and toasting a glass of whiskey. Drew then headed outside while April met her dad for their dad and daughter first look.
April and her dad walked down the aisle towards Drew as he waited on the dock. The look on his face when he first saw April was priceless. (see the photos below) April’s dad placed a kiss on her cheek and then joined her hand with Drew’s. April’s brother officiated the ceremony and beneath a simple wooden arch adorned with a macrame backdrop and flowers from the Petal Wagon, April and Drew shared their vows surrounded by family.
After the ceremony and family formals we headed to the St. Clair boardwalk for bride and groom portraits. We parked at the St. Clair Plaza and had a very memorable walk to the boardwalk as there were moths EVERYWHERE that we had to continuously swat out of our faces. Thankfully, the moths were only by the plaza and the boardwalk was clear! During their portraits, the love these two share was evident! I have so many favorite portraits and wish we would have had more time. <3
To conclude their day, April and Drew had a small reception with their families at Mannina’s Wine House in the St. Clair Plaza before they headed off to Jamaica for their honeymoon.
Congratulations Drew and April! Thank you for choosing me to capture your story and to be a part of your wedding day!
